Marine electrical for dummies

Hi Guys,

I want to install lights on my CS17 but I don't really know much about D/C circuits for marine applications. Can anyone suggest a book I can read to get an idea of how to go about installing a simple electrical system. I would like to install the wiring before I cover the seat tops and install the decking. I would like to install the lights to what ever code is required and come up with a simple charging system. Any suggestions on solar panels that might do the trick?

There is a book in the forum book store called "The 12-Volt Bible", Has anybody read this book? The reviews on Amazon.com are not vey good but the reviewers were looking for help with complex installations.
