  1. Thanks, Chick. I've been lurking on this website for quite some time. I hope to move to eastern North Carolina by this time next year and after things get settled, start building. I was at the Messabout a year ago and enjoyed it very much -- great to meet so many builders as well as Graham, Carla, Allan, etc. Spent a little time on a CS Mk 3. Can't remember if it was yours or someone elses (and don't remember if it was a CS 17 or CS 20). Beautiful boat generously shared by whoever owned it.
  2. Boatbuilders can never have too many clamps, and some of us have resorted to making some of our own clamps out of PVC pipe. Nothing new in that, but this tip from Woodworkers Journal looks like a good improvement on the basic circular clamp. (This, too, might be an old idea, but it was new to me.) http://www.woodworkersjournal.com/dirt-cheap-pipe-clamps-easy-fingers/ Dan in Tallahassee (who isn't building a boat right now, but hopes to build a CS 17 Mk3 or a CS 20 Mk3 in the future)
  3. Hi all, I'll be a newbie at this mess-about. I've been mostly lurking on this site for the past six-months or so, although I have posted a couple of times. Currently live in Tallahassee, FL but planning on moving up to eastern North Carolina now that I've retired. I'm interested in the Core Sound Mk3's. My main reason for coming to the mess-about is to actually see whether I can comfortably fit into a berth on a CS17, but have a feeling the CS20 would fit me better. (I'm a big boy -- currently 6' 01", 270 lbs.) Hoping I can try a berth in each of these and also spend sometime on the water with someone. I'm currently boatless, having gotten rid of my heavy 20' cat-ketch here in Florida and looking forward to starting a new boat after moving. Dan Clark (currently) Tallahassee, FL
  4. An alternative to the SawStop table saw might be one that Bosch has been developing. You can search for it by just typing "reaxx" into your search engine to get a list of results. I've not seen any new information on this saw recently and it appears SawStop has filed legal action to stop Bosch from marketing their saw. Some interesting things about the Bosch REAXX is that it doesn't damage the blade, it is cheaper and easier to reset the mechanism, and appears to have some other well thought out technical improvements.
