Hi again, thanks very much for the replies, very helpful. Here's 2 links to fabrics i've found online that looked promising to me, both 100% polyester and about 8oz weight. What do you think? Dear all, I'm keen to build a Curlew and would appreciate some advice. Firstly, i have a pile of lovely douglas fir 20' long, straight grained and knot free. If i was to use this for stringers would it be worthwhile/feasible to reduce the sizes somewhat so as to keep the weight similar to that of WR cedar, given the extra stiffness of douglas? Secondly, i live in the UK and have been looking for a local supplier for the skin to avoid international postage. Could anyone tell me the desirable characteristics i'm looking for, and what applications the skins you use are actually made for? I think i'm keener on polyester, and it seems to be easy enough to buy for things like bean bags in the right weight and uncoated, would this be suitable?
