They changed the show here a bit this year. They have retitled it the Boating and lifestyles show ( or some nonsense like that). They dedicated a section to lake front property and condos. Some one is acctually selling Lake Erie floating homes. It use to be the only way to get a floating home on Erie was to have an ice jam let loose on one of the rivers and have your home relocated to the lake, for free may I add. Still a good show, I got ODNR to come over and measure the boat and issue a HIN number, I am one step closer. Scott I don't have any interior shots as the inside is still in the raw/tape and epoxy stage, I have some sanding and painting to do when I get her home after the show. Joe is currently building a hydo, I will pass along the complement. He stole the sail rig off of the San Fransico Bay Pelican design, it was the same sqft'age but with shorter spars. I guess that experimental nature of you rubbed off on him. Jim

Another shot

Got the upper hull painted over the weekend and spent the last two days taping off the sheer. I got the first coat of dark blue on the sheer line this evening. It extends 1" above the rub rail and 1 1/2" below. The balance of my deck hardware came in so I will be laying that out and masking for nonskid on the deck and cockpit after Christmas. Jim

Hey Andrew good to hear from you. The Kingston is designed to have a floor on top of the ballast to keep it in place. I think I will either Pl 400 the lead or maybe foam it into place before installing the floor. Haven't seen you around lately. I hope all is well on the north side of the lake. This picture is a bit redundit but who has a pair of coveralls that can stand in the corner by themselves because they are epoxied stiff. Not only that I didn't recognize that old man looking at the camera, at first I thought it was my dad but realised it was me :shock: Jim

Boil Boil Toil and Trouble Cauldren Black Cauldren Boil a Drum a Drum Macbeth Duth Come. How often do you get to use that 25 year old english lit class, I thought I had wasted my time. Jim

I just came across these pics from earlier this fall. I had the local Goodyear Tire shop save lead wheel wieghts for me and then we melted them down into 25lb bars that are the width of the cabin foot well where the ballast is to sit. The design calls for scrap iron and concrete, but I have opted for lead. I thought the lead may fair better on the trailer than the concrete, how long would it take for the concrete to become dust bouncing down the highway. I bought a cast iron pot for $12 at the local Harbor Freight and Joe already had the roofers torch from an earlier project. We built 3 forms, melted the lead filled a form moved it aside, melted more lead and so on until the 3 were full then we would take a break till they cooled and then we would start over again. It went pretty smooth until we found that the 3 hundred pounds of stock we had only yielded 200 lbs of lead once we filtered out all of the dibris like steel clips. I need a total of 260 lbs.

Geezz Scott had I known you had those babies I would have built something more tradtional to go around them. The Kingston is very modern she will be all stainless. Thanks for thinking of me but I am set for this one. Mr. Oyster, as you well know that the devil is in the details, glassing the cockpit, building dry lockers and so on. Mike she has been comming along nicely I am rather happy with the progress and hope to have her painted for the MidAmerica boat show here in Cleveland mid January. That will be the first aniversery of the first cut. I will have to keep up my pace because the boat name RUDUNYET is already been used in my fleet. Jim

Main and the genny up, I also had a working jib made. The designer also has a drifter and a storm jib, I have not ordered those and will put those on my wish list for another year.
