ttkayaker Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I just completed stitching from the cockpit to the stern using Jeff's double cord method. The nylon cord loop is sticking out about one inch past the stern. Do I just cut it off or is there something else I should be doing with the loop? I assume I do the same thing to the two ends in the cockpit. Quote
Action Tiger Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I'm not sure what you mean by cord loop. The cord you stitched around? Shoot, it's done it's work, and if you have too, it ain't leaving. I cut my cords off with the same hot knife I used on my cloth. I think how you cut them depends on what you're left with. I cut/melted my cords and fabric ends into little shapes like the stem on a fine yacht tender. In the cockpit I just cut them flush (again, with the hot knife) and stitched them in with all the rest. ttkayaker Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 Thanks for the info about using the hot knife to melt the cord ends. What do you do about small pull holes in the 8 oz polyester fabric? I have not used an iron yet to shrink the fabric. Quote
