So, you get set up at a campground only the site is not near the water....And you have a pull cart with wheels, but you don't want to walk the park road up and down hills pulling the darn thing...How to adapt a piece that will fit over the ball hitch and bungee to the kayak? It will need to be secure to the kayak to keep it centered over the hitch ball.... I like things simple and lightweight.... For starters PVC fittings..... It needs to keep the nose of the kayak a distance from the back of the car... Some kind of material to create a V notch to line with foam and secure to the bow grab handle! That is the dilemma... A bungee can keep the thing secure with the ball... But securing it to a variety of kayak bows in my fleet....? Quote
Action Tiger Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Are you meaning to tow your boats like little trailers? I've done that, it works good behind a bike... I would recommend the hitch tongue and dolly cart axle be connected; perhaps jointed PVC pipes, or even rope to fit your lightweight simple leanings. When the pulling force doesn't work directly on the axles of the dolly, wandering can occur, especially with the soft boats... In my experience. Quote
woodman Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 Well, exactly like behind a bike...With less parts...when you pull it by hand.....I could go the route of making an arm extending off a receiver, to hang the bow from the grab handle....Just, someway limit the swing when being pulled..... woodman Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 I cut a piece of 11/4 oak to slip in the receiver and stood on it, no problem... This would allow the nose of the boat to fit between the ply., hang a Carabiner from the 2x4 to hook onto the grab handle..... Quote
