Firefly 34" or 36"cockpit

I'm ording plans for the Firefly and I'm seeking advice re: cockpit size.  I'm 5'6" and 150 pounds.  Any thoughts from the group and or Jeff @ Kudzu if 34" is more suited to a guy my size?

The high volume boat feels huge to me.  Unless you are claustrophobic, stick with the standard version. It was a special design for a client and it's just to big if you ask me. I feel lost inside it.

Is there much difference in foot room between the 2? The plans description says it has room for those with larger feet the way I read it that was in reference to the 36" cockpit.

How large are we talking? I have had people with size 12 in the standard size but that is about it. Depends on how you actually point you feet once in the boat. Everyone sits a little different.

 

But the High Volume (36")  is 1" taller at the sheer line and that makes a lot more difference than it sounds!

Well your feet  would fit better in the HV and if you are anywhere near me I can arrange a ride in a HV. Hard to say without trying how well you would fit in a smaller one. As you have probably gathered I am just not a big fan of the HV boat.

No were near by at the moment. As I am currently 9.5 hours ahead of you. I really dont want the windage of a lot of volume. Can just build the 34" and play with the foot rests and seat hight to get a good fit.
