jason joel Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 i have been enjoying your new book and re read it all the time.i want to buy a firefly kit and was wondering does the manual ordvd say where the frame stations are to be located on the strongback?or should i just build what ever kayak is being built in dvd i dont want to make the build hard on myself thanks. Kudzu Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 No, I just offer too many boats to keep one of each on the shelf. Never know which one people will want. I cut them as the orders come in. Usually takes about a week to get one ready to ship but can take up to two weeks. I am out of plywood at the moment. I am looking for a better plywood, my suppliers quality gets worse every time I order. I think I am going to make a drive and pick up some Baltic Birch plywood. Been reading really good things about it and I think I have found a supplier within driving distance. Quote

Kudzu Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Nothing secret about strong backs. I think you will need closer to 16' but I will have to look up the spacing to be sure. If so, just offsets your 14' boards to get the length you need and add a filler strips to make it wide enough. Quote
jason joel Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 thanks ill just make a 16 strongback today before work.after looking through the new book i see that the bow i think on curlew orvardo is assembled in a couple sections that was what i was woundering about firefly.its so blended i thought was all a onepiece section that is by far the coolest looking vessle .cant wait to build it just getting ready to order my kit.ill have to find out the shipping later on thanks Quote
