They shake hands and as they walk the Iraqi says, "I have one question about America." President Bush says: "Well, Mr Ambassador, I'll do anything I can to help you understand." The Iraqi whispers, "My son watches this show 'Star Trek' and in it there are Russians, Blacks, and Asians, but never any Arabs. He is very upset and doesn't understand why there are never any Arabs in Star Trek." President Bush laughs and leans toward the Iraqi and whispers, "It's because it takes place in the future." Quote

I grew up in a town with a large Arab population, plus Armenian, Greek, Italian, Cape Verdean, Portuguese, African, Irish and even lots of old Yankees. Give a thought here and there to who your neighbours and fellow citizens are. Quote

Russ Sylvester Posted March 31, 2003 Posted March 31, 2003 I'm gonna hate doing this and risk exposing myself as a trek nerd. The Romulans are (were?) direct cousins of the Vulcans. According to the story line the Vulcan race split several centuries before Kirk/Picard. The Romulans kept their emotions while the Vulcans shunned them in favor of pure logic. Yes, the doctor on DS9 is middle eastern but I don't think the exact country of origin was ever established. Probably because any particular middle eastern nation would go from friend to foe and back again of the US in short order. Hows that for trek nerdiness?? Quote
