Derek Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 Planning a few things out here... How many of you have glassed the cockpit ( & how much - the floor, floor & seats, etc.) vs. those who have not? Is there a benefit to glassing all or a portion of the cockpit vs. just applying epoxy & paint? I value all comments and suggestions. Thanks guys & gals. Quote

Charlie Jones Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 I glass everything on the exterior of the boat, particularly when using fir plywood. It prevents the ply from checking. Small trouble for the results. Quote
buck Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 You guys just love the smell of the stuff, I fibreglassed the bottom of the boat (the bit that goes in the water) On deck and the cockpit the best protection is good coat of enamel paint, which if done well lasts for years and keeps out everything. I certainly don't hold to the "If it moves fibreglass it" school of thinking, after all these are wooden boats, they live, they breathe, they don't last forever, boats don't. Spend your money on something else: stainless fitings or expoxy glue. Quote
