Mainewinds Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Hey everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. My name is Jake, and I live in the mid-coast area of Maine. I had been researching several boat designs to build, until I saw the B&B article in Wooden Boat this month. I knew right away that these were the boats for me. I ordered plans for a CS17 today, and I can't wait to get started. I have a 17' CLC kayak under my belt, and am really looking forward to this new challenge. I'll definatley post progress reports. Mainewinds Posted September 18, 2009 Author Posted September 18, 2009 Ray, I'm going to build the boat from the plans from scratch. Any suggestions on a local lumber supplier? The only one I've looked into is Atlantic Hardwoods in Portland. They seem to be the most convenient. I commute to Portland daily, and it appears that they stock the Okume Marine plywood in 3/8 and 1/4 inch. Where is your shop located? I'd love to check out the CS20. Quote

I also build bamboo fly rods with custom wooden cases, so I'm always on the lookout for a good supply of Mahogany and Cherry. Quote
