CS20 #126 Scale question

I have received the plans for CS20 #126 and have a newby question.  On the pattern sheet showing the plywood cutouts, are the bottom and side sections dimensioned to allow the extra 3" for the scarf joint or are they dimensioned for a butt joint (in which case I assume I have to add the necessary extra length for a scarf joint)?

Also, has anyone done a grid-layout version of the pattern sheets to help with the line layout (similar to that provided on the rudder sheet)?

The dimensions on the layout sheet are the actual size of the finished parts. It is done this way because you can butt the sheets together or you can pre-scarf the sheets, mark out the panels and cut them out.

The sides look like they take two whole sheets of plywood and part of a third.  the third sheet also has other pieces.  Is there enough room to put in the scarfs and still cut out the other pieces as shown or do we need to use the butt joint on the sides?
