markfitz Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Quick question -- while the weekender plan doesn't give actual dimensions for the partners, the look pretty thick -- like a 3x3. We were wondering what the ramifications of using thinner stock would be - if any. It seemed like it would take an awful lot of force to rip that thing out, and we were wondering how crucial it was to use that thick stock, or whether some 1x hardwood would work just as well. Barry Pyeatt Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Yes you can use 3/4" thick material. When you run the bolts thru the chainplates, hull side and backing blocks (partners) use fender washers to help spread the forces over a larger area. It will be fine. Quote
