Rudder Mounting--Weekender

This is for those who are building the Weekender although I'm sure this would be applicable to other boats as well. It's a new setup from Duckworks.

Very nice!  Here's the rendering that they used to make the parts for the Weekender:

I think that's a big improvement over the threaded rod assembly that is in the plans.

Frank, that was the first drawing I sent to Chuck. As you can see in the photo of my new rudder box, the lower boat-side gudgeon is the same as the upper. It works very well and because I used a similar clevis pin through the stub tiller to link it to the steering mechanism, the rudder box can be removed very quickly and with no tools.

Here's the drawing of what we actually ended up with. Ignore the clip in the clevis pin. I used split rings instead.

I think that's a very good solution (and the design looks basically the same to me in both pictures, but the final one does clarify how the pin goes in).
