Reasons to build a boat:

I was on my family's Sunfish on a small lake when I realized how relaxing (there was no wind that day) it was. Of course I have been out when it was windy, when it not relaxing but fun and exciting. I'm not sure when or why I wanted to build one, but I did, and I did a lot of research on the Internet soon after. Why build a Weekender?

Sailing is relaxing (mid-day)

Sailing is exciting

Excellent project for building expericance

Free lodging

Better use of time than watching TV

For learning lumber yards' prices and quality

Because your sick of the land

You want a boat you can call your own

Because I would rather be in the ocean than living here in Allentown

Tired of just reading about boats

That sums it up for me, especialy since I have yet to get wood. But this message thready is particularly important because I need to convince some people that this is a good idea in the next few days (mainly my father).

Tyler, your new website is a hoot. Allentown is not that bad, really. Wait 'til you get around a bit more. If you want to see what you are about to build or need your dad to see it to convince him, our boat is down in Maryland on the Eastern Shore, not that bad a ride. Takes us 3 hours from Philly. There are also some boats in NJ, but the builders have not been active on the forums.
