Which B&B Design for Singlehanding the Everglades Challa

I'm thinking about particpating in the EC for 08 or 09. Would any of Graham's designs be appropriate for singlehanding the EC??

My attempt would be to finish within the 8 day limit. Can a CS 17 or 20 be rowed by one person??

I think that you would be hard pressed to find a better boat to solo the EC than a CS17. She is stable, nimble, sea kindly, well balanced, light enough to man handle, fast and rows decently.

As Ray said, I was seriously considering soloing Green Heron in this coming Challenge.

I have never sailed anywhere near what the Everglades Challenge is (in terms of endurance, distance etc.). I have singlehandedly sailed and rowed my CS 17 for considerable distances. The only thing I haven't done that you will need to do on the Challenge is to ship the main mast. I have never needed to do that on the water but I feel like I could do it if needed.

The last two years a Sea Pearl 21 was sailed single handed and did quite well. A CS 17 would be off the beach 1/2 hour before the Sea Pearl. They're heavy.

Many of the kayaks are singles. You'll still finish in a respectable time if you stop to sleep when you need to and even take time for a shower at the checkpoints.
