I am taking a moment to express my appreciation for this extended circle of friendship focused on our common joy in sailing and creating our boats with our own hands.

From a desire we form an idea; the idea evolves into a dream; the dream becomes a plan; the plan takes shape in lists, materials, and tasks. The result is more than a vessel to carry passengers over water; it also carries all those desires, ideas, dreams, and plans. It even seems to carry something special that we couldn't put into it ourselves; the boat has its own soul, somehow independent of the builder.

I wish you all many happy hours of the creativity and pleasure unique to boatbuilders.

I agree completely. Although our old boat was as nasty and vile as her crew, she always brought us home. Forced to sell her, we feel like we lost a family member. So we are building a new boat, and hope (just hope) she may have a better temper...
