New theory of stability

Anybody seen the pictures of the listing autocarrier off Alaska?

Appears to be a new theory of stability being demonstrated her. Normal side up, port-side down stability, and --one might assume--starboard side down stability. Hard to tell if a fourth mode, bottom side up, also exists for the design.

I am wondering how that happened too. Unless all those cars aren't tied down? if they are just parked without being secured, then once they all fall to once side of the ship, re-righting it would be pretty much impossible.

Nice to see they got the crew off it. It will be interesting to see what they find after the investigation.

EDIT: To the architect's credit, the ship is still floating, while practically on its side.

Our news channels said the problem began when it started taking on water and began to list.

Seems to still be floating.

If the cars are mainly undamaged or even if not and the ship is towable, there is a really intersting Lloyds open salvage contract out there. Buckets of money.
