Greg Luckett Posted January 2, 2006 Author Posted January 2, 2006 I do not know anything about the state air cadets so cannot say, but it is not like the Sea Scouts. It sounds more like Naval military. When a person completes the program they can be enlisted into the Navy at the E3 paygrade. There is a two week boot camp to begin the program. When I went to Navy boot camp that is what the reservist did...2 weeks. I was sure envious since mine was 12 weeks long... Anyway, I have some doubts that this is a program that would be good for Sam, but still, it might be. :?: Quote
Stump Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Sounds a lot like the Air Cadets here in Washington. Monthly trainings on weekends and the like. The kid I knew had a great time and he learned how to fly. As far as I know there was no commitment, just the option. Gives a person a better idea on what they are in for if they are thinking they want to go into the military anyway. Quote
Greg Luckett Posted June 11, 2006 Author Posted June 11, 2006 Just thought I would share a pic of Sam as a League Cadet, which is the younger kids (11 to 13), of the Sea Cadet program. He is loving it and is enjoying visiting military bases and the opportunities this has opened up for him. The Sea Cadets started a new unit here close to home. Ben is chomping at the bit to join too but must wait another year. Quote
