I was looking around in my garage and happend along a boom my bro-in-law gave me a few years ago when he know I was buliding this boat. Anyway it is a small 8ft aluminum boom about 1-1/2 to 2 inch dia. It may be an option. :idea: I would still be loose-footed but would have the clew connected at the boom and then it would extend back farther so can connect in a bridle or something. :wink:

Oyster and Tim, what's the advantage a boomless sail has over a boom or sprit boom? I thought it was impossible to get a good sail shape on some points of sail without one (Like the French boat in the photo). I'm happy with my CS 20's sprit boom, which allows me to control sail shape, including leach and foot tension independently, and also independent of sheet tension. It also jibes as easily as it tacks.
