John Turpin Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Well, not completely, but we're well on our way. Worst Marine tried to sell me a set of two-part oars for $100, but I didn't fall for that. I made the oar handles from two ash rake handles from my local big box store ($3 each). I inset SS bolts and threaded couplers. The oar blades are cut from plywood then laminated to form the blade curve. Here are the blades epoxied into handle sections. I also built up the vicinity of the handle connection joints with some 9 oz fiber tape. Some 4 oz cloth on the blades and a couple of coats of epoxy will finish them off. I'm a little concerned over whether the diameter of the handles is sufficient for the loads they'll be under. If I snap them off, I guess I'll have my answer. [/img] Quote
