Rick G Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Hi all, we are moving to a new home and the garage is only 20' deep. Would any of you know if it would be possible to fit a Core Sound 17 on a trailer in that space along w/the masts? I have a 16' Wayfarer now and on the trailer it's 21' long O.A., but it looks like if I'd slide all I can forward, the boat would fit, but not w/the mast. I've sailed aboard the CS 17 and love the boat and as soon as I can find a buyer for the Wayfarer and get settled in the new digs, I hope to start building one. I've had the plans for far too long... JeffM Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Sounds tight. Kitty-corner maybe? I'm building a CS20, which just fits corner to corner in my 2-car garage with room to squeeze by at the bow. I'll be garaging it off-season on its build cradle, since I'm pretty sure the trailer tongue will push it over the limit. By the way, welcome aboard! Quote
Tim Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Rick, Yes it will fit; I have mine in a garage that is just a few inches under 20'. I have to take off the masts and lean them up at an angle because they are exacty 20' but that operation only takes a couple minutes. Tim [attachment over 4 years old deleted by admin] Quote

Ray, unfortunately the garage backs up to the kitchen and when I suggested a "boat pouch" into that area, the wife gave a negative response. Modifying the Wayfarer trailer w/a removable tongue is not a bad idea. Jeff, thanks! If the CS17 project goes well, the next challenge is to figure a way to fit a Belhaven in there... Quote
Dale Niemann Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 I am not sure about the storage of the completed boat with trailer but I can assure you that a CS 17 can be built in a garage that is 10' by 18' because I am doing it now. However, ask me if I would wish it on anybody else and I would say NO! About a thousand times so far I have said why did I do this. The answer is the CS 15 was not available when I bought the plans and it was obvious that the CS 20 would not fit. I spend a lot of time moving things out of the way just to be able to walk around the boat. Since I live in Florida, I am able to move the table saw out on the driveway on most days.
