CS17 Hull 129 Progress

We had a great Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family. I hope everyone else had the same.

I did manged to slip away into the basement and make some progress on the CS17. The Lazarette bulkhead in epoxied in and the seat stringers are fitted. So far everything is going well ... it's a tribute to the great plans. I was amazed how the seat stringers attached to the side panels, before folding, ended up in one plane!

Clean work, Tom! I'm at about the same point in my CS20. It looks from the framing as though you're making the stern a cross between decked and not decked: a raised seat to the transom. Did I get it right?

Thanks Jeff. Yes, the lazarette will be several inches above the seats. I'm planning a hatch that will fold forward and hang between the seats. The attached photo shows a mockup of this.

I'm planing to store a trolling motor, its battery, and a icebox I'm going to fabricate (with an overboard drain).

Anyone idea how fast I can motor a CS17 with a 40# thrust trolling motor? I'm guessing 3 to 4 knots. I'd appreciate some info if anyone has tried this.

Thanks for the input Ray. Based on your input, I'll probably go with a 30# thrust motor and save myself some $.

I've made some more progress framing in the seats. So far everything seems to be falling into place. I'm about ready to start the centerboard and trunk. Attached are some pictures from this weekend.

I'm begining to see why building boats is a such a challenge ... there are no 90 degree angles!

Speaking of trolling motors, I have been searching out for one, and looked at this site to compare with what I have found at the local stores , yes even West Marine, which has decent MiniKota prices. But this site beats them by three hundred dollars on their small outboards. and about fifty buck at least, on their trolling motors. . They have a great reputation for sales and dependability on their larger ones, speaking from experiences of the mid range ones.

Great find Oyster, Your right, the prices are about as low as I've seen. I'll save that link and order equipment when I get a little closer to the end!

That site spot buys. So they may not have exactly what you want next month as they do today. But keep checking with them.
