But, we are all boat nuts. :wink: That doesn't mean we all know the answer to each and every problem that is posted here. ***I certainly don't!*** We all are not from just one locale or country. We don't all speak English as a first language. We all don't have 50 foot Teak planked Herreshoff designed world class cruisers. We have 7 foot dinks and on up. We each have favourite woods, paints, goo's and stuff. The big thing is, that we DON'T open our mouths and, give wild uneducated opinions when we are talking about the structures of a vessel and, the potential safety of another person Understanding of just what someone else is trying to say is paramount. Let the person know that his question needs clarification. Lets not rush in with quick decisions or ideas based upon less than real world experience. Be patient, Be concerned, Be aware of what you say and the possible consequences. One of the signal statements by some one professing to be a shipwright that my old mentor Alex Davidson would boil over at was the utterance... "Well, that's good enough for the girls I go with!" He would come down like the hounds of hell on that person and leave him reeling from the verbal blast. To finish, recall the line from one of those Clint Eastwood shoot'em ups? Dave Ruedel Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 One poses a question, receives several answers, and it is up to them to decide which suits them best, or none at all, and go their own way. An opinion or suggestion is not an order or a papel bull. Perhaps there is someone out there who is given 5 openions to cut a six inh hole in the bottom of there boat while on the water is a good idea, but I doubt too many. Everyone has to weigh information given them, especially when their safety is concerned. Quote
