Belhaven 19 #69 Trailer Advice and Shout Out to Randy J

Hi Everyone:

 

I’m new to posting here on the B & B forums but a long time reader.  I live in Holland, Michigan and am currently 5 years into my projected 2 year build of a Belhaven 19 (#69).  Funny how time flies!

 

I am at a point where I’m starting to look for trailers and decided to buy new since I intend to pull her all over the country.  In particular, I am leaning toward the EZ Loader brand for it’s configurability but am having trouble getting model recommendations from my local dealer and the manufacturer.  As soon as you mention ‘sailboat’ they kind of shut down.

 

As I was pursuing old posts here looking for any sizing guidance, I came across a picture of Randy Jones’s reinterpretation of Scott Dunsworth’s BH19 hull #3 sitting on, of all things, an EZ Loader trailer!

 

So Randy, if you are still around, would you mind sharing the model number of your trailer?  Or, does anyone have contact info for Randy or have any insights on BH19 trailers?

 

Hope to see some of you Michiganders out on the water in about 2 years…

Wow. What a surprise. I am alive and well, retired and hiding out near Port Townsend Washington with the Belhaven 19 and Coresound 17.

I believe my B19 trailer is a EZ loader model EZL80.  EZ loader quit making sailboat trailers years ago.  Best I could do was an adjustable bunk trailer.  Local dealer was uncomfortable with the sailboat part, but connected me to their distributer who knew what to do.

I just finish removing the disc brakes and surge brake actuator as they were badly corroded. Trailer brakes not required in Washington State until you get to 3,000 pound total weight. I'd avoid trailer brakes if not required.

One other thing, I'm using the bunks to hold the boat up, but support the keel on an intermediate wooded support.  I tried rollers under the keel but they always flatten under the weight.  I float the boat on/off the trailer. 

Check your direct messages for my trailer VIN which may help identifying the exact model.
