Tiga 321 (thickened epoxy)

I used my Tiga 321 this weekend to glue the sides of the hull. I'm very happy with it. I mixed it 2 to 1 and even in direct sunlight in hot sunny Florida, I was able to get about two to three hours of pot life before it began to thicken slightly. It was thick enough to stay in place and it did a great job of filling small gaps here and there where the side didnt fit the stringer perfectly.

I did the left side of the hull yesterday and checked it this morning. It was rock hard but still barely flexible... but not soft enough to remove even with a sharp knife (I tried). This stuff is incredibly strong.

The only downside is that it's purple... but that's also a good thing since it makes it easier to spot drips, etc. Not bad, 3 gallons for $30.

I think the purple color is from the microballons ... maybe. Some samples I have are kind of a dark rust brown and mixed up with System Three resin into a kind of purple color.

3 gallons for $30 ... that is a deal. Is this the same source that's been talked about before?

I've actually started building the centerboard for my next little boat project (a Spindrift 10' sailing dinghy), and want to get the ply for it before Christmas.

Not sure about the microballoons. The purple color comes from the hardener, which itself is sort of thick... like very thick grape jelly, and the resin itself is white with what looks like tiny chopped fragments of fiberglass.

Yes it's the same source. I picked mine up on ebay and I'm very happy with it! I used 15oz for each side of the boat (30oz total). Cleaning was easy. I wiped everything with denatured alcohol.
