Zeroice Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 This boat seems to be taking longer than expected but I am in the finishing phase. Any pointers to help speed up this part. Zeroice Posted August 3, 2003 Author Posted August 3, 2003 Hahahahah. Yeah I guess that would help. As it is now I'm putting in about 3-10 hours of work on it a day depending on my schedule. Although taking a few days sick leave sounds attractive after all a bad day of boat building is still better than the best day at work, especially if when you get out on your boat. I think finding the time won't be too hard ,,,the hard part will be making up excuses other than "I was working on my boat" to satisfy employers, friends, and family who's sahred time you'll be using up finishing Lizzy! Dave R1 Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Looks good. Keep up the good work. Question about your trailer, or maybe about your tow vehicle. Whatcha going to tow that with? Looks like the hitch is pretty far back under the boat considering you haven't got your bowsprit on yet. I'm just curious if your tow vehicle will fit under the bowsprit and stem of the boat. I'm sure you've already thought it out and I'm not that knowledgeable about trailers so... Quote

Zeroice Posted August 5, 2003 Author Posted August 5, 2003 I used a chevy s-10 with a bed cap on it. It is a close fit right now but i need to adjust the boat back a couple inches or take the cap off. As for the bowsprit it appeared as though it would have cleared over the top of the truck cap if I had it on at the time that I had towed it from the place I built it at. The rreal prob I'm having is with the winch, it needs to be up higher to pull the boat on properly. I'm going to try adding some length to the winch bracket with some trailer bunk brackets I picked up. Quote
Dave R1 Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 Best of luck on moving the winch up. How far does your boat extend of the rear of the trailer? Will there be any issues with maximum overhang and your local law enforcement? A red flag or light on the stern might be needed. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted August 6, 2003 Posted August 6, 2003 If you count the back bunks of the trailer than the boat extends about 1.5 to 2 feet off the trailer. I am not sure of any laws were I'm from limiting the amount that can be hanging over but I see other ppl with their boats hang off the back about that much or slightly more. As it is though the lights are still clearly visible as I have it out in the road near my house and have noticed the reflecters clearly at night and no one has hit my boat yet. Thanks for the concern though! The boat is quite stable on this trailer as well. Quote
