Is there a lot of difference in stability between the weekender and the vacationer??

Here's a picture of my Vacationer with six adults onboard about to leave the dock. You can see just how far she settles in the water by looking at the transom. Under sail, people can move about the deck with no drastic change in handling other that increased speed as weight moves forward. The hull shape really helps keep her flat under sail and when at rest, there is very little tipsyness (?). Much more stable than I ever thought it could be.

There would be quite a bit of difference between the two. The extra width of the Vacationeer and additional weight will make most of the difference. It is a lot more boat than a Weekender even though the length doesn't seem like it is that great.

Take a look at at the photos of Florin's Vacationeer when they were turning it over. That additional width makes a substantial difference in how stable the boat will be in the water.

The Vacationer is very stable, the women in my family feel very safe on board. On light days I even take my grand daughter out.

The Vacationer is a lot of boat, the trade off is she can be a lot of work to build, to sail, to trailer. However I have done them all and I would still build the Vacationer if I had my choice to start over.

What ever your choice though, there are two very good forums to help you get through the rough parts.

This is the best I can do for size comparison pics while at work. The second is of my friends boat the Loon. She is 23'7" long on deck and 4' at the bottom beam. My boat is nearly twice as wide. In fact I have had two men on the same rail with no one else aboard while at the dockand I wasn't even worried about the heel. Maybe it is time to see how many bodies I can get on one rail for a stability pic.
