foot rest installation for Vardo

I installed the foot rest on the Gunwale stringer but it looks like the foot rests will touch the skin.

Is the standard fix to them mount them lower on the chine stringer?

I tried moving them down to the chine, but because if my toes are on the foot rest instead of the arch of my foot I will have better control. I moved them back up onto the gunwale.

They almost touch the lashing which comes down off the deck hatch ring support around the deck stringer.

   Welcome to the forum!  You're project is looking really good.  I don't have any information about the Vardo design but I wanted to let you know that you will probably get more responses if you post in the Kudzu Craft forum with this particular question since people who are interested in this design are more likely to pay attention to the Kudzu Craft forum than the main forum.
