  1. Hi everyone, wanted to give a quick update... lots of work has been happening!
  2. Quick video showing the boat flip! Now the fun starts! https://youtu.be/bL4s6vW9udk
  3. hi - for anyone who built out the Marissa 18' center console... we are trying to look at the rigging tube placement and how it exits in the stern/transom to connect with the motor. There isn't anything in the plans that specifies how it emerges from under deck and goes into the engine well. We are planning on running the tube to the starboard side transom "compartment" and using an elbow UP to the compartment and then creating a second elbow to exit through the transom wall and into the engine well. Does that sound right? Or could there be an issue with the rigging making two 90 degree turns?
  4. Hi everyone... we flipped the boat last night and will now be starting to work on the interior!!! With that said, we were hoping to add a little space in the stern by moving the center console forward. Any experience with how forward we can go without messing up the balance of the boat? 18" Marissa build.
  5. Been a while since posting, but you can see more details on THE HULL TRUTH and also on my blog., Just primed the boat yesterday!
  6. So, we are about to start fiberglassing the hull and I know that will take a lot of time and energy, but in the meantime I want to start looking at gas tank options given lead times for ordering. The Marissa is spec'd for a 16 gallon tank (permanent, although the plans also show a below-deck removable option). We would like a permanent tank and will be routing the fill line to the side top rail. Any suggestions on tanks I should look at that would fit below-deck? It is a sealed deck, but we were toying with the idea of making a gas tank cover hatch in case we have to access the tank. Any thoughts on that approach? Thanks!
  7. Thanks Chuck, and that's the path we are going as well.
  8. Thanks to both of you! Yes, Alan I think my dad talked to you on the phone. We are planning on doing exactly as described above - thanks!
  9. We are making some nice progress but have a question... We are seeing the limber holes in the framing but I didn't think this boat was set up for a bilge pump... and I don't see the holes connecting at the transom. So it looks like the water could flow aft but stay in each of the separate sections of the framing for the hull. We were planning on creating weep holes transversely so they all connected at the stern and eventually run into what would be the bilge area near the motor mount. Does that sound right?
  10. Hi everyone - we received the lumber and the plans and my Dad is hard at work ... attached are a few quick updates. I set up a blog post series on my blog that I'm adding details - feel free to check that out! https://hammersandchords.com/building-a-center-console-18-foot-boat-and-reading-the-directions-afterwards/ I set up a blog post series on my blog that I'm adding details - feel free to check that out! https://hammersandchords.com/building-a-center-console-18-foot-boat-and-reading-the-directions-afterwards/
  11. Thanks! We are researching all the options now while we wait for the pre-cut lumber to arrive!
  12. Hi everyone... I recently ordered the plans and cut wood for the Marissa 18' center console. My father is a long-time boat builder so we are going to work on the project together. Hope to have the base materials by end of December. Looking to make this a bit of a cross between a center console and a Chris-Craft Runabout. Trying to make the design "our own" so looking to add lots of wood aesthetics. More to come!
