Greg, I have been watching their progress with some interest. Was considering a short course later this year but family health issues probably won't allow being gone from home long enough to participate. Had not gotten as far as cost etc. so can't comment on that.

I'm looking for a design in the catagory of these two boats. Jim Machaliks Danni Jay also fits the bill. Low speed displacement of semi displacement hulls. I'm sure I'm missing some good designs even after hours of looking on the web. Suggestions please. Generally desired features: 1. maximum 10 HP to reach 10 MPH. No interest in faster speeds. 2. Maximum 18' length due to shop limitations. Shorter to 16' even better. 3. Must look like a boat not a barge. 4. Used primarily on inland lakes, canals, etc but capable of crossing Lakes like Oneida and Simcoe on 20 knot days if required. 5. Glue and screw constrution greatly perferred. Very limited temterature conrtol for winter epoxying. Can't wait for warm weather.

Greg, I'm in Branch MI about 20 miles east of Ludington. Edit, I cleaned house in the computer and didn't realize I had not filled in my profile data again. I see it is up now.

Greg, I built a sharpie to Atkin's "Alone" lines. I'm suspicious that these lines were never tested before publishing. I lofted full size and found a couple of glaringly bad numbers in the offsets. After setting up the molds it was obvious that the sheer clamp required edgeset that was beyond reason for a simple small boat. I sprung a batten around the molds and re established the sheer. The plans called for white cedar batten seam construction on the sides and cross planked cedar on the bottom. As you know white cedar is not available in Michigan in planking lengths and quality. I planked in Meranti plywood and was pleased with the ease of planking and the finished result. I see no problem substituting plywood for cedar in Atlin's simple designs.

Does Branch (20 mi. east of Ludington) fit into SW MI? Ron
