Canoes too? I know the traditional seat is kneeling or a low slung seat. A back may be cool.

I'd like to turn this into a running thread about my endeavor...we'll see how it goes! Thanks for getting my packet to me despite tornadoes in your back yard Jeff! I don't have a table saw so what would you suggest for scarfing my stringers? I was thinking of marking a 60 deg angle either side of the offensive chunk and sawing it out...I have a LN small rip that should work well? Thanks! Jim

Nope...no confusion at all! He is very athletic, and will no doubt spin circles around me!! He's not really into fishing so I'm looking at the Ravenswood...it seems like a sturdy little boat that will fit in the shop easily.

Thanks Jeff, He has zero time in a boat/ship/watercraft. But I single paddle a canoe all over the place so he will learn from me in the canoe. I have zero kayak experience, but we have an REI right down the street that will be having a class in 2 weeks on kayaks; the hope is to get you to buy one of their boats...not gonna happen. I'll canoe any day of the week, but in the ocean...kayaks are a better choice. There are great sloughs and places to go that are calm. I was thinking short and wide. Wide is stable...right? Can't wait to get started and I think we are in for more than one!!!

Hey Jeff, again...glad to hear you are ok after the tornados. If my canoe build goes well, my son wants a kayak. We have some nice rivers here...lot's of lakes, but we also head to the ocean twice a month. Ocean kayaking is big in Monterey, very sheltered with lots of estuaries that are a blast to head in to. Which of your line would be a good platform for ocean paddleing? Thanks, Jim
