It looks like a boat! I am so excited now. Cabin roof should be ready for install in another day or so.

Burned up my darned ROS today too! :x :x Only 4 months old. Told 'em I didn't need that 2nd year warranty!

Didn't even make it through the standard 1st year period. At least replacement is free.

Looks great Derek, that's where I'm aiming to be in about 4-6months.

Looks like you've got some nice beading around the junction of the cabin and top deck - is this another mod? I don't remember seeing it on the plans, but it really finishes off nicely - I think I might have to add that to my list of things I haven't even started yet! :shock:

Man that is an exciting day. You've been busy. it looks like you had a great fit on things.

It just gets more exciting as you go. Although to go thru a ROS building one of these isn't all that uncommon. The motors just aren't designed for fine epoxy dust. :cry:

That is beginning to looking like an ocean liner with all those ports.

Barry, I kind of figured it may have been the epoxy dust, the stuff is so fine, it seems to go everywhere. Wasn't overly surprised, just disappointed as I needed it. I told the wife when I bought it and they offered me the extended plan that if it made it through the first year I would buy stock in the company!

Andrew, the bondo fillet is not necessarily a mod, but have seen it done by others and thought it a good idea to assist water run off.

I thought it was wooden beading from the 'far away' shot, and was worried that it would never happen on a curved cabin front, but bondo sounds easy (it all sounds easy so far - I haven't made the first cut yet)

I notice that your deck is level? with the hull side - is this by design? In the video they seem to have the hull side above the deck. BUT they also say that to achieve this they don't necessarily have the hull side meeting the hull bottom. I would have thought that the one place you really want to be sure you've got no gaps is below the waterline! Any thoughts on this?

Ok, think ahead a little bit. You are most likely going to sand off the plywood at the chine and take it down to about the level of the corner of the stringer below, then cover it up with fiberglass and epoxy or resin and finish it. So if you don't bring the plywood down to overlap the bottom ply edge it is no biggie. A little gap can be filled with either thickened epoxy and filler or with bondo and then glassed over. It won't make any difference there, but not having enough ply to attach the rails to above the deck can make a difference.

Andrew, Per plans the hull sides do extend above the deck for rubrail/toerail attahcment, but yet again, I am taking another route here. Barry nailed the gap at the chine issue. Jake did this also on his boat as he mentions and to be honest, under the fiberglass, epoxy and paint, those fillets look absolutely great. I think I first saw this when watching construction of Knut's boat.

Tyler, not sure what you mean by a lip extending over the deck. And colors, I still can't decide. Suppose I should start trying to figure that out, hey? :wink:
