Outboard motor Thruster for 9.9 Merc Big-foot

Thinking of one to add to Motor-sailing my Gramp 23.. Any experiences, comments... Main concern is WEEDS! Would a thruster help cut through them? Or, clog up with weeds?? Advice? Roger
