It IS a fine looking boat AND it would be a natural for that aluminum Honda 2 cy.l liquid cooled 11 hp motor ! The layout is such that a cabin w/berths, p.potti and a kitchenette could easily be incorporated. Weekender SNUPI Builder Posted January 25, 2003 Author Posted January 25, 2003 I really liked the article by Tom Gallant about Bill Roue, designer of the original "BLUENOSE" schooner, out of my home town Lunenburg ! Kinda cute the way the author describles Capt. Angus Walters input during construction . Angus and my Dad were close friends. Angus was at the Smith & Rhuland shipyard damn near every hour of every day, breaking frequently to have a lunch at my Dad's drugstore, just a few minutes away, then back again ! Angus would fill Dad in about the day's happenings, apparently to vent some of the steam, before heading back ! There apparently was a lot that went on at the shipyard, between Angus, Dick Smith & Bill Roue that was extremely heated, but in the end, Angus won out, as he did with everything he countered, including races and storms ! It appears that it's fairly straight forward, making sheet plywood construction a snap. A person may have to revert to "some" of the traditional building methods, but a lot of the Weekender" system could easily be blended in, simplifying the process ! A friend had an inboard cabin cruiser that he used on the South Shore. He had a 4 cyl. Austin engine , ( Horrors !), couple of berths, thru hull head, a wee galley , etc. AND a flying bridge. That damn thing was only 17 1/2' long !!!! It had a lot higher bow, and more freeboard and he used to run all up and down the coast with it ! He had more faith in that "Kipper" engine that I would EVER have ! Quote
