I have been looking at this kayak for quite some time now...I was going to make it a cedar stripper..but not now.. Using one of my many kayak-canoe building books I have had for a couple years I decided to convert the Chesapeake 16 to a Skin-On-Frame.... I had a couple of 4X8 sheets of cardboard and some 1/4'' ply scraps to make the paterns.... Using Jeffs book and prior builds I came up with frame spacing. I laid out each frame by.... In order to get an idea of the rocker in the hull I positioned the boat on my strong back and shimmed up each end until the center of the hull was the only part touching the strong back and measured the distance of the gap at each point where the frame brackets will be located. I have one cedar beam left over that was given to me, 4''X6'' 11 foot long . The other 3 I used last year to make a couple of boats...
