Not sure about the cost of custom plans / designs but its a option Its not like the 24 is a complete design from the ground up but this is not to belittle the work of designing. I would be the first to admit I know nothing about designing . It seems the 26 has not resulted in lots of boats being built .so this may not be what the small boat market is looking for - the 24 may be a better size for small boat building the 26 may real Elsewhere on this site , I have read about how much bigger the 26 is - harder to build - much more wt - harder to tow I took this at face value - more cabin space seems to be useful - so a compromise seemed a solution How many 22 ft owners would like a little more space? How much more can be gotten out of the 22 ft ? How much time would be saved in building / money? Again I am just thinking out loud - maybe the 22 ft and 26 ft owners could give us a heads up on this Bill

There are a number of possible layouts for the P22. I am showing here a layout I have been working on which gives three good berths and a galley to port. The freeboard has been raised 3" and the cabin and mizzen mast has been moved aft giving a lot more room inside the boat. While you need to sleep four, depending on the size of your children, the starboard berth could be extended under the cockpit to make room for both of them. These changes come at the expense of a shorter cockpit. The outboard has been moved aft where it won't tilt. A bracket could be fashioned to raise and lower the motor but the cockpit might be better off if the motor was mounted on the transom and have a roomier cockpit. copied this from a princess 22 thread about room - written By GB I think later in the thread He changed to only 2 ins of extra freeboard So does anyone think this is a good idea ? been reading a lot about the princess in both sizes seems like the 22 ft builders are trying to get just a little more room without cutting down on tilting motor well / long cockpit - but nobody asked about a 24 not quite as big as the 26 / few more ins, in headroom / longer cabin/ raise it 3in plus what you get from the 24 ft and what do you get like papa bear and baby bear it might be just right I am not a designer but with both sides covered it might be possible to do 24 without mts of work Little quicker to build - little less money [than the 26 ] whats not to like Bill

somewhere in surfing the core sound info I saw a picture of a thin wall birdsmouth that GB was doing for maybe the ec22 so must be of some use the wood then is only for a form? Bill

Are these as strong as metal masts? Lighter ? cheaper? look better? If none of the above why? Bill

not really thinking of a wayfarer but have found a lot of crusing reading on it wondering how the CS 17 stacks up does the rig & hull - handle weather as well looks like more room for camping in the core sound - need to make my own tent I am leaning towards a tent which woud connect to GB's setup - see below

how about giving me some ideas on tools to buy while I am waiting for the weather to change up here - looking at a mid to late april or early may start on a kit. sanders / routers / saws / brands / big or small / power or hand Why and how it helped you most of us 1st time boat builders could profit from your exp. Hi Everyone I am interested in a princess 26 , but in talking with my brother [ who has signed on as partner ] a plan has taken hold. Build a cs 17 kit , get practice with fiberglas ect. then start the princess We end up with a day sailer to mess about with while the bigger project in being worked on and we will have some exp with glass and glue , not to mention putting things together the kit will go faster , i think and when the princess starts to drive us nuts we can take a afternoon off and go sailing to remind our selves why we started this whole thing. Plus ' she who most be obeyed " likes the sound of it. what does everyone think , things to add to CS 17 design , tools I can't live without , tools I can live without books i can't live without have a big concrete floored building - came with the house aprox 38 ft deep and 36 wide 16 ft high door on 1 side no heat - need to be able to move motorcycles out side - end of April Bill

Does the princess have postive floatation? can it be built in? can the cabin be made larger on the 26? i don't need the large cockpit has anyone built a 26 Bill

Hi again, shoal draft -they are equal how about cost of builing? ease of building ? Seaworthy ? looks like this forum answers whether there is help - ideas - community I live in northern Wi near the big Lake Would like to trailer to the warm in a few years would like as much headroom without causing problems 26 seems as small as I would like to go or as big are there draft choices to be made? orther choices have a big 38 by 36 building at home - not heated tools needed ?
