For scarfing the stringers, how short of a section is too short? I have access to a bunch of 4’ high quality cedar fence pickets, but to make them for a good sized canoe, it would be as much scarf joint as wood! So, how short is too short when scarfing short pieces together for the stringers? Thanks!
