I want to build a kayak from plans, and can't decide which one. I am 5'8", 172 lbs (athletic) and am a fairly experienced paddler. I would be using the boat in a variety of settings, like a level of quickness and maneuverability in a boat, and want to have the ability to handle open water waves and mild surf. The shorter length of the curlew and Ravenswood appeals to me for transport and versatility, and my question is do either of these boats fit the bill better? Would the Ravenswood low volume be worth considering or is that for very tiny people? And finally, are there any other designs that i should consider and why?
