Hi all, i was wondering how a jib sail works when sailing? Tacking seems like it would be a problem. perhaps i should have reworded this, how does one sail with a jib? I have only ever sailed with a main sheet, so an extra sail seems like it would be alot harder. P.S. don't spill a pepsi on your keyboard, the delete key is important and it is quite annoying when it doesn't work properly.

Getting the car fixed is proving difficult, so saving money for the boat is at a standstill . Not giving up hope though, it WILL be build this year. just an update i suppose, it turns out i need a couple axles, and a couple ball joints for the golf, sigh. Its coming along slowly.

I was over my moms house the other day, and her boyfriend had a cruiser boat down there around jamestown, ANYHOO. I was looking at some pictures she took of the lake, and there is about 20 feet of water missing from the lake, its weird to see the banks go down so far into the water. :shock:

haha, maybe i'll make both, and see which is faster maybe not, but it WOULD be interesting wouldn't it? OH! I have a question for you guys, is it possible to sail on the ohio river? its the nearest large body of water, but it has kinda a strong current in the middle. i hear from lots of folks that its impossible... I figure i'll ask some real sailors about it.

Hmmmmm perhaps i'll stick with a lateen sail then, i don't know this wind capturing science so well as to experiment yet.

As most of you are aware, i am planning on building a 3 in 1 sailing dinghy. However i really like the sail design on the weekender; the mainsail at least, (i don't think that the front sail would do too good on such a short boat as the 3 in 1). i like the two boom design of the weekender's sail, do you guys think a sail like that would work well on the 3 in 1? Also, i am very new to the whole sailing thing, my only experience being on a sunfish at Younglife Camp. mayhaps you Kind Gents would help me with the lingo a bit?

Hi Folks, most know me as Gilfy, and i hail from Northern KY, (though i grew up in Jersey). I was thinking about building a boat to sail around a bit, maybe the ohio river a little, probably some lake Cumberland. I found the Stevenson web site and realized that the weekender is absolutely beautiful, but i am not in much of a position to own one of those right now. Looking around on the site i came upon the 3 in 1 sailing dinghy, and seems ideal for my needs (can put it on top of my golf, can sail it) so i was wondering if any of you had any experience with this type of boat? I need to save up some money before i can build it as well but i think once it gets done it will be awesome.
