Thanks for the input Dave, it is greatly appreciated. From Jeff's web site a Shad with 8 oz. polyester should weigh in at approximatly 32 lbs. so I assume the Short Shot would be in this ball park. I was just woundering what completed boats were weighing in at. I was also curious as to what people like/dislike about their completed kayaks. What are their opinions of its handing-stability-tracting etc? To be honest I think I will be happy with either kayak, just trying to make the final choice. I admit I am one of those guys who like to reasearch a lot. Thanks again!

I am currently paddling a Pygmy Pinguino 145 I built last year. It is a great boat but it is time for a new project. In 5' 6' and 170 -180 lbs (old fat guy) and only an average paddler, so light weight is important. I paddle on large Texas lakes so 15-20 mph wind with plenty of ski boat wakes is normal. Good seaworthiness is a must. I am looking for a kayak with a good balance between tracking and maneuverability without much weather vanning. I would also like enough speed to try to keep up with the “fast guys” in group paddles. I am having a difficult time choosing between the Long Shot and Short Shot. I could not find the finished weights for either boat. Any differences in handling? I would appreciate any input from anyone paddling these kayaks. Thanks for your opinions!
