I was sailing my CS17#102 "Lady Blue" yesterday afternoon in Galveston Bay in winds 7 to 10 knots. I decided to see how she would self steer. I trimmed to the course I wanted and then let go of the tiller. She did wonderfully! If I wanted to change course, I just re-trimmed the sails and she stayed perfectly on new course. I sailed on various courses from a close reach to a near run and always had good results. Every time I sail this boat, I am more impressed with its qualities! I may never own a sloop again! John

To anyone trying to decide whether or not to build a CS 17 or CS 20, I say do it! Charlie Jones built my CS 17 and besides being beautiful, it sails wonderfully. It can be gentle enough to take my 5 year old daughters out and fast enough to run down some much larger boats. Last weekend I felt a surge of speed and looked at my GPS. It showed 7.5 knots, so I must have started planing. It is a wonderful boat!!! John Yow CS 17 #102
