Thanks for the photos & descriptions. I followed your trip, first on Yahoo maps and then ( because i have dial-up) in my S.F. road atlas; and that gave meaning to the places you cruised to.

Is western red cedar suitable for the keel batten?

My boat is starting to look like a boat. right now it reminds my of one of those HUNTER sailboats without a transom. I have 2 questions - Is the rocker at the forward bulkhead and aft bulkhead, measured from the level of the temp frame, around 2 3/8 - 2 1/12 inches? Second, I have gaps on both sides forward of the forward bulkhead of about 1/8 to 3/16 in. for about 22 in. in length. I can't stick 1/4 in. ply into the gap. Is this acceptable and can the gaps be filled with thickened epoxy and glassed or is there something else I should do to fix the gaps.

Is there any one out there who uses laced sails on a core sound or on a bay river skiff? Do you have stowable masts? Can you raise and lower and reef your sails with the masts in place on the boat? My intentions are to go with laced sails on a birds mouth mast. I
