  1. Sorry guys, I forgot, to mention.I'm in Australia Brett
  2. Time to coat my canoe on wednesday so I went shopping for paint today, it turns out to be harder than I expected. Apparently you can't get oil based exterior paint anymore. What paint do you guys think i should go for, oil based interior paint, or water based exterior paint? Im using the recycled polyester from kudzu craft. Brett
  3. thanks jeff, thats exactly the spot i was talking about, i guess i will have to drill some holes, its the only way i think will work. i assume you meant to say a hole through the frame. brett
  4. Hello all, I have finally got everything together and cut out ready for assembly and have run in to one little problem, on the tangerine canoe there is a stringer running along the inside of the boat and on some frames it is nearly opposite a stringer on the outside of the frame, if they were exactly opposite it would be easy to lash them together but because they are offset i'm not quite sure how to do it, any ideas? Thanks Brett
  5. Oops, guess i needed to look closer at the plans. Thanks jeff.
  6. Had anyone built the tangerine and can show me how they made their floor? I am about to cut the frames so need to think about this now. I was planning on running cedar strips but due to the middle of the boat being so much wider than the ends I don't think that will look right so I might have to go for plywood. Now I am wondering how much of the frames I can cut out for the floor and still have strength to support the stringers. Brett
  7. In the end I did some each way. The after scarf were pretty long but not too bad. Now it's time to start cutting the frames brett
  8. hi guys, my plans for tangerine arived today so its time to get to work, i have read the instruction manual all the way through. I need to scarf my stringers to get therequired length and i was wondering do i scarf them first or rip the board to size first. it seems like i could save on a lot of work joining if i scarf the board first, i Guess the big downside is that i then have to rip a 16' board. Any other problems i'm not seeing? i am cutting my scarfs with a hand plane, so saving time there is a big help. Also Jeff, the plans have doubles of three of the frames, does that mean the boat is symmetrical? thanks Brett.
  9. I guess i will have to go for tangerine. Has anyone made one yet. Anyone have pictures? Thanks brett
  10. Hi guys, do you think it would be possible to fit 2 seats in the stonefly canoe or is it not big enough. Thanks Brett
