Hi, I'm new here. I am considering a Core Sound 17. My plan is to build a Penobscot 14 next (hopefully starting soon) and then later on a larger boat. The goal is to keep up with the kids as they grow up. But who knows, I might start on the larger boat first.
It looks like the CS17 has plenty of flotation. Is the forward section sealed off? If you put hatches in the seats, do you make them airtight, or do you fill the unused space with containers of air? I assume the boat won't sink, but is it hard to right? Also, it doesn't look like the cockput is self-draining. Anyone put a drain in there?
Do the plans include plans for making a dodger and/or tent? I get the sense we're on our own with that.
Also, can you sleep on this boat? Can you squish in beside the centerboard trunk? I think some boats have a system where you put boards up at the level of the seats so you have a large flat sleeping area. Does that work with this boat? I can't quite figure out the logistics.
