Hello all, although I'm not building a B&B boat (I have plans for CS20 but decided I needed another "practice" build). Anyway, I'm building a Waterman 16 canoe from www.selway-fisher.com. My question is about painting the interior. I just finished the bulkheads with "Tile Clad" from Sherwin-Williams and it looks so great I was thinking of doing the whole interior the same (theres PLENTY left over as they only sell gallons!) Does anyone have experiance with this paint?, Is it OK to use it on surfaces exposed to the sun, etc.? Hope someone can help and apologies if this is "off-topic" but I couldn't seem to get any response elsewhere. Thanks, Brad.

This is for Graham I guess since he recommended them, those Armstrong deckplates look real nice, I plan on building without the aft deck so I like the fact that there completely watertight, want all the bouyancy you can get right, can you give me an idea of price? been in touch with them with no response. thanks Ray, that definitely makes it easier to choose; didn't realise it was that much heavier

Is there any reason you would not recommend this wood? according to Boatbuilder Central, its there plywood of choice;slightly heavier and less flexible, but less expensive and, they claim, "better mechanical properties and resistance to rot" than okoume. I'm looking at wood for my cs20 as well so this is of great interest to me because the meranti is about 35% cheaper. Is the okoume really worth all the extra cash?

Graham, you say "prefer" a stronger wood, how strongly do you feel about that. The thing is I went ahead and ripped the wood (dum**ss that I am). Its not glued so I'm sure I'll find another use for it, if you REALLY feel I should use something stronger. What if I used heavier cloth, say 8-10oz. and 2-3 coats epoxy/graphite? Brad

Hi all, Getting the garage cleaned out to begin construction of CS20#64! In the meantime will build the centerboard and rudder assembly, question; I have some very straight western red cedar cedar 2x4's left over from another project, plans call for spruce or fir and I haven't seen it mentioned here, any reason why I shouldn't laminate the centerboard from the ripped cedar? it will be glassed and finished with epoxy/graphite.
