Does anyone know a source for 2"x3" rectangular tubing? I was given an old cox trailer and the tounge is bent and it is 2"x3" rectangular steel tubing 8 ' long.

My sneaky self discovered that I am to be presented a set of plans for the Bay River Skiff 17 for a fathers day present. I know that hull was not designed for the purpose of speed. I am going to use a 9.9 Nissan on it what could be figured as a pratical and safe speed to drive it?

Thought i'd chip in here for what its worth. I had to wait to retire to have any time to speak of. I drove over the road for 41 years and i would spend 3 - 4 weeks out and then be off 3-4 days. Every once in a while I would buy a tool or piece of equipement for a shop. I put it in a storage unit then when I retired I got a good deal on a small house. But the selling point was the metal carport with the 12 x 15 interegrated shop on the end. Now I got place ,time,tools, and can't make up my wishywashy mind on which design to build.

Thanks guys crew size isnt an issue because I only forsee a crew of one. I was just wondering about the structural integrity of the taped seams. I wouldnt want to have to go down with my ship. I'm looking to do a lot of camp cruising and need to trust my vessel.....thanks again

OK tell me fellas ...........this tape seam ...stitch &glue or however you say it.... I like the design of the bay river and core sound 17's but I a pretty hefty fella at 6" 285 now just how sturdy is that compared to a conventional ply on frame type construction???? I would hate to step into it and have it fall apart under me. Or is it I need to change with the times?
