what is selfdraining cockpit and how to make it?

Here is another question. In my country i can't find full okume ply. I can only find combo ply: okume + topola (local name). can it be used for boat building?

Hello everybody. I am from Croatia. I just received boat plans for Outer Banks 20. I am opening this topic to share with you my building process and ask you if I have any question or problem. Sorry if you find some mistakes in my English. My first question is: why do I have to plank sides in Ashcroft way (diagonal planking)? why can I use method like used in Marissa building blog?
