Mike That's a great looking drift boat, I would like to own two boats also. One with a motor and one without. We have some small rivers here and the motor would never work. I hope to take my boat over to Montana and fish the Clark Fork river. I have to pick my son up from college May 10th and we want to fish our way home. Keep up the good work! Jim

OK the new guy's turn! How bout the term stitch and glue? That is how I refer to my drift boat construction, don't know why but that's how they describe it in some of the literature I have read including " The Epoxy Book " by System 3 epoxy. I fastened the bow and stearn together with string than I proped and tightened and tweaked and twisted and turned and bent and spread and pushed and grunted till I liked what I saw! Than after a reasonable amount of chin rubbing and an ample amount of wine, I ribbed to the shell. The last main thing I did was put the bottom on. Long answer but there you have it, Stich and Glue!!! Jim

I have seen lots of great pictures on this site already, you guys are real boat builders. I have a long way to go, I hope to sell this one to my brother so I can afford to build another one. He lives on the Clackamas river in Oregon and he's a hard core fly fisher.

The plywood is a/b marine and the ribs and seats are clear fir shorts I found in the lumber yard pretty cheap. All the long one by material is also doug fir that came from my woods, the neighbor has a wood mizer mill and than I just planed them down. Also the oars are from my woods also but I'm still planeing on them. It's kinda fun using material from my own back yard, the fir on my land is real tight grain, you can count at least 30 rings at the grip of the oar. Hi I am Jim From the great north west I live about 100 miles west of Seattle. It's not the end of the world but you can see it from here! I will try to post a picture of the boat I am building. One more thing! I agree with Mark Twain. He said he had no respect for a man that could only spell a word one way. Jim
