Pete McCrary
At the end of a day of sailing -- I just have to be able to rest and relax. Also, if there's inclimate weather and you are chased into the cabin, you should be able to get comfortable and entertain yourself. That's hard to accomplish in small "pocket" cruisers. But I've found a way to rest and relax short of getting into your bunk. I've found two folding "beach" chairs that I take along on overnight cruises. Both can be setup in the corners of the cockpit deck. It's a tight fit, but if you put down a board across part of the footwell, the chairs can be supported almost anywhere on the deck. The blue chair can be setup inside the cabin with "close" headroom. It's a comfortable reading position. That chair also has a umbrella for use on the deck. It can be positioned on either side of the chair with several degrees of freedom for adjustment to the sun's position. It is easily deployed and can be stowed in the cabin or one of the cockpit hatches. The tan chair is a bit larger and sits too tall for use in the cabin. On deck it is more comfortable than the blue chair with several adjustments from upright to almost flat. With my CLC PocketShip "Tattoo" I would use the small chair while at the helm when motoring. Also when sailing a transit (wind and waves permitting). Deployed on my work-table. On the cockpit deck. In the cabin just aft of Blk 2 facing aft. Headroom just ok for 6' old man. Note that the chair sits directly on the bunk tops without cushions. My (3") cushions will be fitted in several modules -- arranged so that they will "wedge" each other staying in place without retainers on the bunk edges. If that doesn't work, I'll just add retainers where required. When using the chair -- the cushion will just be moved out of the way. Stowage shouldn't be a problem for the blue chair. The larger tan chair. Just barely fitting on the cockpit deck without footwell board. Ready to enjoy a beautiful sunset. Can be stowed in the cabin -- it's too big for the cockpit hatches. AmosSwogger
Great idea Pete. I think this meets the definition of garage sailing.
